Search Tips
In all the following examples the Quotation marks should not be included as part of a search i.e. you should search for Canon XL2 and not "Canon XL2". The quotes are in this search tips help guide for illustration purposes only.
Secrets of successful searching:
We are proud of the fact that the DVbuyer web site is incredibly easy to navigate and most products are never more than 2 mouse clicks away. However, if you can't find what you are looking for, we have outlined some search tips to assist you.
How our search works:
When you carry out a product search on the DVbuyer web site, it will only look for key words that are contained within the actual title description of the product that appears along with the thumbnail image in the product box e.g. "Sony HVR-Z1E HDV Camcorder" or "Vinten Vision 8 Two Stage Carbon Tripod". It is important that you try and pick single or combination keywords that are likely to appear in the product title.
Choose a category:
First you should choose a category from the drop down menu, especially if it is obvious what category the product you want to search for falls into e.g. "Canon XL2" or "Sony PD170" would fall into the "Camcorders" category. However, if you are unsure of the category that your product falls into, leave it set at the "All Categories" default.
Keep it simple:
When entering a search string on DVbuyer, the best results are usually obtained if you enter just a single word, such as: "Sony" "HVR-Z1E" "XL2" "Vinten" "Ianiro". This could be the brand, model number or both.
Avoid words containing punctuation:
The search engine can deal with words containing hyphens or periods. However, the search engine might have trouble with words containing an apostrophe such as O'Connell
For words that contain a hyphen such as, if searching for "HVR-Z1E" or "Hawk-Woods", you must type in the hyphen i.e. "Hawk-Woods and not "Hawk Woods" (The case of letters is unimportant: " HVR-Z1E " is treated the same as "hvr-z1e").
